Class areas of study include career opportunities and practices, integrated academics, knowledge of tools and equipment, panel straightening techniques, and introduction to vehicle preparation. Safety instruction is integrated into all activities. Students utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. 2 1673T Mechanics and Electrical Components Mechanical and Electrical Components (1 credit): This course will introduce students to the entry-level skills necessary in mechanical and electrical repairs as they apply to collision repair technology. 3 1679T * Surface Preparation and Refinishing Surface Preparation and Refinishing (1 credit): This course will continue to build student skill sets in preparing a surface for refinishing; inspect, clean and operate spraying equipment; ; detail a vehicle; and diagnose finish defects 4 1675T * Non Structural Analysis and Damage Repair Non-Structural Analysis And Damage Repair (1 credit): This course will continue to build student skill sets in non-structural analysis and repair of metal and composite parts. 5 1677T * Structural Analysis and Damage Repair Structural Analysis and Damage Repair (1 credit): This course will continue to build student skill sets in frame and unibody type vehicles using welding techniques, measuring equipment, and frame machines. 6 1674T Advanced Refinishing Techniques Advanced Refinishing Techniques (1 credit): This course will introduce students to the advanced fundamentals of automotive refinishing. CARES Act What is the WSC Cares Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund? Who is eligible for the JDRCC CARES Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds? How much JDRCC CARES Act funding can I receive? How are decisions being made? How soon will I know if I received funding? What is the WSU CARES Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund? The JDRCC CARES Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund is intended to assist students with urgent financial needs directly related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. Needs may include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare. This is federal funding that has been made available under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). On Friday, March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion relief package, was signed into law. The CARES Act has provided funding to colleges, career center and universities to assist students during the global crisis. On May 13, 2020 John D. Rockefeller IV Career Center signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement committing intent to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. As a result, on May 28th 2020 JDRCC received $7,570.00 to assist students to cover the cost of expenses incurred as a result of COVID-19. JDRCC estimates we have a total of 25 Title IV Eligible students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. As of 6/30/20 11 Title IV Eligible students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act of $600.00 each. Students will apply via our JDRCC CARES Application are reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis to determine eligibility. The application is used to document that the student has expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Rockefeller Career Center the successful and ever-benefiting institution that it is. Walt Saunders Superintendent Walt Saunders holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics Education from West Liberty University and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from West Virginia University. After serving in the United States Air Force, Saunders began his career in education. Following ten years in the classroom, he transitioned into educational administration, serving as an assistant principal, principal, and ultimately as the Director of Federal Programs and Assessment for Ohio County Schools—a role he has held for the past decade. In this capacity, Saunders has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Ohio County Schools Foundation, overseeing hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funding for students and donations from invested community partners. He has also acted as a facilitator for awards from the Stifel Foundation, overseeing the distribution of over a million dollars throughout the last decade directly to Ohio County’s high-achieving students. A graduate of Leadership Wheeling and a member of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce and the West Virginia Association of School Administrators, Saunders remains deeply engaged in his community.
